Venue

Welcome to Nagoya

The venue city, Nagoya, is one of the biggest cities located in central Japan. Nagoya has developed as the castle town of the Owari-Tokugawa family during the Edo period (AD1603−1867) and even today preserves historical heritages embodying early-modern Samurai culture, such as Nagoya Castle (built by the former of Tokugawa Shogunate, Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1612) and the Tokugawa Art Museum. Based on traditional industries such as ceramics and textiles as well as modern industries like automobiles, aviation and machine tools, Nagoya plays an important role in Japan's industrial society.
Nagoya is also famous for the local cuisine “Nagoya meshi”, which is characterized by a unique taste of subtle sweetness and spices in salty-sweet harmony. It is advisable to try some of “Nagoya meshi” at the birthplace. You should enjoy unique flavors, found neither in Tokyo, Kyoto nor Osaka. If you go to a little farther place from Nagoya, you can visit exciting tourist spots, for example, Takayama (a beautifully preserved old town in Hida moutainous region) and Ise Jingu (one of the holiest among all other sacred Shinto shrines).
